Heart v/s Mind

It takes these two to get the job done. A common misconception people have is that they try to brand the heart or mind as good or bad. I was inspired to write this article when someone once said to me "We should not always listen to our hearts"

What I mean by heart here, is our all-spiritual spiritual heart, the heart that knows what we really want and to be truly happy, our gut feeling is needed. It is the heart that connects us to the whole universe, the heart that has the blueprint of our entire lives, and yet our heart is ignored because it does not follow the traditional way of thinking.

And then we have our mind. What I mean by Mind is our subconscious mind, the one who cares about our breathing and blood flow, our habit patterns and things we are not aware of, things we do unconsciously. Our brain can process millions of bytes of information in a second. It will be a huge asset when we are using it to achieve our goals.

I would like to say that neither of us has taken any decision about Heart and Mind that both of them are neither good nor bad, but they are as they are.

When the word 'heart' is mentioned, many people often believe that it refers to feelings such as, happiness, joy, sorrow, love or hate. Here they say that the heart will not always be right because it will flow away from what we feel.

This is not exactly the heart you should follow; this 'emotional heart' is completely different from the 'Spiritual heart' we are talking about. Keep in mind that an emotional heart is also not good or bad, but it depends on how trained and managed it is.

When people behave with an emotional heart, they say that it is easier to listen to the mind, because the mind can think rationally in emotional situations. This is, to some extent, very accurate. But when it comes to cases of Spiritual Heart, the tables are changed.

The Spiritual Heart sometimes asks us to do things that do not make sense at all and confuse our minds. In this situation, if we listen to our mind, it will ask us to stick to things that we are familiar with based on our past experiences. Our brains will tell us to do the things that we have programmed to do what we think, say or do.

Here is an example that helps you make it clear, our heart asks you to open and open an ice cream shop. For you, it makes no sense. Even if you like ice cream, you feel like it is completely random and has nothing to do with your job. Think deeply, this idea interests you, but for some reason your mind says that it is a terrible idea and you should not bother to entertain this ridiculous idea.

Now, you know that the idea came from your heart. But why is it that your mind opposes an idea that came from your soul, who might be trying to teach you something by opening an ice cream shop?

Let's say you go along with the idea and decide to open an ice cream shop despite those "logical" reasons. Here, your mind will start throwing obstacles at you, so that this idea does not work. But why? Why does our mind resist these new ideas? This is because the new idea at hand, which in this case is opening an ice cream shop, is going to break your normal everyday habits-paradigms and is completely different from what you have programmed your brain to do. .

Your brain that has never thought that you want to open your own ice cream shop is probably wondering why you are asking to do it completely differently. It will take some time to get used to the new idea, given that you are very firm about it and constantly try to get your mind on the idea.

Meanwhile, your brain will try to get you back to your everyday programming and will do your best to ensure that you don't make changes. This does not mean that your mind is bad or bad. It is only doing what you programmed to do it!!! So be patient with it, but focus on your goals and do what your heart tells you to do. This may take some time, but it is the only way to convince your mind.

You still need your mind to get things, you can't do it alone. Your heart and mind will need to work together to ensure that your success is not short-lived. I hope this has helped clarify some common misinterpretations about Hearts and Minds.

Now, let's take a look at the difference between decisions of the mind and decisions of the heart:

I do not always believe that heart and mind are aligned. Very often, there never seems to be a conflict between the two - as if the passion of the heart is in serious conflict with the analysis of the mind.

The challenge is that life forces you to make decisions that require both types of decisions, but it is your responsibility to make that choice. When faced with a decision, the heart and mind will each have their own agenda, to push and pull you in one way or another. At the end of the day, only you can decide the right steps.

Do you like listening to your 'gut' (mind) or following your heart? Both avenues provide a different set of realities, if you wish,  truths that contribute to the process both before and after making a decision.

When you can identify what these truths are, it makes it easier to determine whether some decisions will be made for you by heart or by your mind.

That being said, the following thoughts are some of these truths or differences, which help to understand whether a decision is made, or is being made, that uses something deep within us. That which gives life or something that speaks directly to us:

1. Decisions of the heart are processed repeatedly. The decisions of the mind are analyzed and made reactively.

2. The decisions of the heart keep in mind the journey, the decisions of the mind think about arriving at the next step.

3. Decisions of the heart have a passion, a purpose, and a tendency to pursue something greater. Decisions of the mind are often fixed on instant gratification, and satisfy the desire to do something.

4. The decisions of the heart take into account the effect on others. The decisions of the mind are somewhat narrow - thinking about themselves.

5. Decisions of the heart open the doors of opportunity for help from other people (see Nos. 1–4). Mind decisions have the potential to stop helping others (see number 4).

6. Decisions of the heart are absorbed in long-term investment. Mind decisions sink into short-term gains.

7. Decisions of the heart display feelings of doubt, frustration, hope and peace. Decisions of the mind display feelings of excitement, thrill, excitement and excitement.

8. Decisions of the heart can be moments of remorse when judgment is not planned. The decisions of the mind go on as if nothing has ever happened.

9. Decisions at the heart provide a deeper level of development and learning - something to draw on for future choices. Mind decisions create a reminder of what happened last.

10. Heart decisions challenge the status quo, they are not sexy, and you will probably be asked to explain yourself. Decisions of the mind are logical, easy to justify, and 'prudent'.

While thinking about these ten truths, take a minute to think about making a decision - today, this week, next month or year. Based on these thoughts, are you more willing to decide what your heart feels or what your mind is telling you?

The life you live is a crazy, beautiful and challenging adventure. For this, you have to choose. And, tough decisions are made by difficult people.

There is no right or wrong path to follow. As a person you will probably fall at one end of the spectrum or at the other - being influenced by your heart or your mind. However, the most important thing to remember is that, in life, you need to use both.

When you're not sure which route is the best, take a look at the ten ideas listed above. Then, ask yourself, "What am I trying to achieve? What is my goal in making this decision?"

Money or Health - What is more important in life ?

If you are given two options - Money or Health - what will you go for? Tough question, you say? Maybe. But I do not think so. Not when you give it a deep thought. So which of the one will get your head? This is my own ranking of the two "must have" in order of their importance to me. 1. Health 2. Money And this is the reason behind my choice: Health - This is the number one choice for me. It's so far ahead of the other one that I didn't even have to think before giving it my vote.
